Precarious moment

Pffff, I’m glad I made it to the hotel meeting yesterday! Sea Bees is cooperating with a new 5 star hotel on Phuket and we had a final meeting about when to start and talk about the last details. The hotel however is still under construction and the site is a muddy place. No problem, I have been on the site before….mmm yes, but then the weather was nice and the roads were dry….. Now it’s raining season and it looked like a big swamp! Watch out for the alligators, brrrr. Fortunately I didn’t take the motorbike but the pick up truck which was a blessing I found out later. One little detail: the executive assistant to the GM forgot to mention that I had to take a different route! Too late, I was on the construction site already and had to make a phone call to inform him that I would be a little late because the muddy road was blocked by big trucks. No problem, he gave me new instructions and I would be there in 5 minutes.

However, this would become a memorable trip…..an oncoming truck couldn’t pass and gestured that I had to move the pick up aside. So, as gently as I am, I did what he asked and then BANG! The pick up was stuck in the mudd and I couldn’t move it in a million years! The good thing though is that I’m a woman and the construction site was full of men. I blinked my eyelashes a few times and in my best Thai/English I asked if they could help me. No problem madam, you go, no problem. After they saw that the front wheel was burried in mudd, they understood that they needed machine power. Meanwhile I was blocking the main construction road and no truck or whatever could pass. After 20 minutes I was saved from my precarious situation and the pick up was pulled out of the mudd!

All men were applauding when I made it save to the main road again. I was only 30 minutes late at the meeting
