From June 4 – 13 2010 on the beautiful international tourist destination of Phuket (Thailand) the 2nd edition of the Phuket Film Festival is being planned. The second edition of the Festival will lay the groundwork for a sustainable annual event which will not only help raise visibility of Phuket as a quality tourist destination but also act as an anchor event drawing tourism during Phuket’s low season. The Phuket Film Festival also serves not only to promote tourism but as an event which showcases culture and heritage as well.

While the history of the Phuket Film Festival is fraught with many of the same trials and tribulations the Cannes International Film Festival underwent in its start up days (1940′s), the Phuket Festival, like the Cannes Festival, is determined to move forward in establishing a major international film festival on Thailand’s international tourist destination of Phuket.
