Good news for all divers who are coming to Phuket to enjoy the underwater world. Latest news say that a project to sink 3 old ships around Racha Island is finally going to be realized. For 4 years local organisations are working on the idea and the beginning is scheduled for next month.

The Department of Marine and Costal Resurces (DMRC) is the main initiator of the activities. They also had private sector support from Thailand Diving Association (TDA) who raised 2/3 of the needed investment for the creation of this artificial reef.

2 iron ships, 18 and 28 metres long were donated by the Thai Hotel Association and the TDA and 1 more wooden ship will be provided by the Phuket Provincial Fisheries Association.

We are looking forward to the new project and will let you know about the forthcoming events.
