Government agrees to protect our dolphins
Dear Friend,
Thank you for signing our postcard petition to help save the amazing dolphins of the Moray Firth last spring.
With the help of local people, our supporters, and the backing of 25 of the world’s top experts, delivered almost 18,000 signatures to the Department of Energy and Climate Change (BERR at the time) protesting that oil and gas activity would pose an unacceptable threat.
Our campaign efforts are paying off as the DECC has just agreed not to carry out any seismic survey activity in the Moray Firth this year.
The Government has also agreed to fund independent research and to work with WDCS and other stakeholders to demonstrate the impact that oil and gas activity would have. They have to show that it will have ‘no adverse impact’ on the dolphins. This is a huge step forward for our campaign and we’d like to thank all of you who have supported it – you have made a huge difference.
